LNG INDUSTRY

LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) is a clear, colorless, non-toxic liquid that forms when natural gas is cooled down to around -162°C (-260°F). The cooling process shrinks the volume of the gas by around 600 times, making it easier and more economical to transport and store. LNG is primarily composed of methane along with small amounts of other hydrocarbons, and it is used as a fuel for various purposes including electricity generation, heating, and as a transportation fuel for ships and trucks. The liquefaction process involves removing impurities and heavy hydrocarbons from the natural gas, then cooling it to its liquefaction temperature. LNG has become an increasingly important part of the global energy mix due to its abundance, relatively clean-burning nature, and versatility.

The portfolio of Merwede Valves contains high quality valves suitable for LNG applications. With our own cryogenic test facility, we can test valves down to a temperature of -196°C.
